Kamasi Washington Portland Concert reviews
Tedeschi Trucks lived up to my expectations
Commdan here, not JWalterK, but I don't know how to change my nickname. I was a huge fan of Susan Tedeschi and had seen her live three times before. They were very good musicians but seemed to lack clear direction at that time. Sorry to say I was disappointed then. Of course, after Derek Trucks Band CD's came out, I realized he had played on all her CD's, so I was expecting big things the first time I saw them shortly after they formed at the Pittsburgh Blues Festival in 2026. This concert was fabulous! Their horn section is fantastic, and the black singer could easily front his own band. They are a super group with elements of blues, funk, jazz, soul, and gospel. I heard an echo of "Sly and the Family Stone," and, of course, I'm sure their sound will be compared to the Allman Brothers Band with the two drummers. They are on their way to being a super group in my opinion.
